Here we go again, another Bank Holiday and another motoring survey. ITV Local has commissioned a survey that tell us that slow moving caravans annoy drivers more than anything else on the road. Slow caravans were closely followed by convoys of bikers, car flags, drivers chatting on mobile phones, baby-on-board signs and drivers who throw litter onto the roads.
What I have always found surprising is that even if you are towing at the legal limit, the site of a caravan in front normally gives following drivers a pathological desire to overtake and then normally slow down in front - strange but true. There are caravan outfits out there that are underpowered and do slow the traffic but we all have to have a little more patience and hope that the slower combinations have the courtesy to let others by.
