An article posted on holidayhypermarket.co.uk , has shown that camping in the UK has been described as a “great budget option” by the British Resorts and Destinations Association (Brada) this week.
According to the association, camping is a particularly attractive option for younger people, who have the freedom to get on their bikes with a light backpack and head off into the great unknown.
Peter Hampson, director of Brada, said: “It’s equally a great budget option from the more organised family side, because once you’ve bought your tents and all the bits and pieces then it’s an investment that you’ve got.” He added that campers only have to pay for their site fees, making it “significantly cheaper” than forking out for a hotel.
Research published by Barclays Banks in September 2007, revealed that seven per cent of UK residents are “active campers”, spending an average of £382 per year on equipment and other camping-relating expenses.
Furthermore, the Camping and Caravanning Club reported in June 2007 that campers, caravanners and motorhome users inject more than £2 billion into the UK economy per year. Further proof that camping and caravanning are experiencing quite a resurgence in the UK.
