The National Caravan Council (NCC) is urging caravanners to show their support for holidaying in Britain by displaying ‘Go green, go British, go caravanning’ stickers, which will be launched during British Tourism Week (10-18 March 2008).

The NCC has recently begun a campaign to highlight the ‘green’ credentials of caravan holidays – on the website, www.greencaravanning.co.uk, holidaymakers can enter the distance they are travelling and the type of car and caravan they are using, to reveal their carbon footprint (C0² output). This can then be compared with flying –travelling by caravan in many instances results in considerably less C0² being produced.

Deputy Director General of the NCC, Alicia Dunne, said: ‘There is a fantastic choice of holiday parks in Britain, and in many, great attention is paid to protecting the environment. So we are urging caravanners to support our British tourism industry, thereby hopefully helping the environment, too.’
