Caravanning
is officially back on the map when it comes to cool holidays. The Caravan
Club normally signs up about 5000 new members per month but back in August
over 7000 new members joined making this a record month in the 100 year history
of the caravan club. This has been the result of many factors such
as the interest in the media of celebrity caravanners and the UK airport
security situation during the peak travelling months.
Celebs such as Lorraine Kelly, Kate Moss, and Jenson Button have all featured in the press recently extolling the virtues of caravanning and motorhomes. This new generation of caravanners has revamped the image of caravanning as a cool and trendy leisure pastime.
Many
families are finding that the difficulties experienced recently at UK and
American airports have made traveling with young children an unpleasant
start and finish to an overseas holiday. The
total freedom of a caravanning holiday certainly has its appeal even if
you do have to deal with the congestion of British roads. The good
weather this summer has encouraged not only families to take their next
break in the UK but also couples who want action holidays such as surfing
or cycling. The Caravan Club now has 936,000 members and membership
is growing daily.
Part of this revival of what was once considered a naff holiday could be down to caravan and motorhome manufacturers producing modern, stylish accommodation that appeal to families and couples alike. Gone are the days of floral prints and cold, damp caravans. Today’s caravans are bright, stylish and modern with all the mod cons that anyone could wish for. Motorhomes now feature sat-nav and even power showers in the high end models.
For families with children a good caravan site provides a safe environment for the kids to have the kind of freedom that we were used to in our childhood. During the school holidays many caravan sites can resemble a scene from an Enid Blyton novel with children back playing again like children should! Many caravan sites are now providing the kind of facilities that modern families desire, from up market showering facilities to indoor pools and cable TV.
